After a busy few months, including working on my new book, moving, teaching and lots of other projects, I have started catching up on Hexjibber’s Hobbies. There are 10 new ones today, spanning September until November. I’ll be filling in the rest soon. Check them out at the blog here!

For all of you who have been following my illustrated blog Hexjibber Hobbies, you can now buy the first year’s worth of entries in book form! “Hexjibber’s Hobbies Vol. 1″ is 124 pages, printed on 130gsm paper, with a gloss cover and I am selling it for a mere £7 (in person) and £7.99 (in Travelling Man)!

The book will be available at my stall, at this weekend’s Thought Bubble 2011 Comic Convention at Royal Armories Hall in Leeds. Get tickets here. If the books prove popular, then I will get a larger run done. If you want a copy, but can’t make it to the Convention you can tweet me @Hexjibber, or head over to the contact section.

There will also be giant colouring-in at my stall, and this year I am testing out some of the pages from my new, soon to be finished, book “The Hexjibber Anti-Revision Book”.

Don’t forget that I will be taking part in a panel discussion “Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Self-Publishing”, along with my fellow self-publishing chums Dr Geof Banyard and Hugh ‘Shug’ Raine on the Saturday of the convention. Here are the results of the Thought Bubble Motion Comic Workshop today at Bradford Central Library. We had 30 children participating and I think they did a great job! Doctor Simpo worked with them to create their character, which they then drew, using FriiSpray into Comic Boom. The end results can be seen below:

It’s nearly November and therefore nearly time for Thought Bubble, Leeds’ vast Comic Book Festival 14-20th November. Hexjibber will be doing giant colouring in at his stall at the Comic Con in Royal Armouries Hall 19-20th, as well as taking part in the panel below:

Yes, it is nearly that time of year again. The nights are getting shorter and there is an autumnal chill in the air. Not to worry though, on 7th October, Light Night will bring the centre of Leeds to life with art, theatre, DIY shizzle and cultural goings on.

This is the 5th year I have been involved and I have decided to kick it old skool by doing an entirely analogue event. Above, you can see the design for my Light Night postcard, available from Light Night venues across the centre of Leeds. On the back you are asked to draw a picture inspired by your experience of Light Night (past or present). All you need to do is put it in the post (no stamp needed – as it is freepost) and it will be exhibited on the front of the Civic Hall on Light Night. Alternatively, you can draw something on the evening itself and stick it up on the Civic Hall by hand.

Hi,
I will be running an animation workshop at 4Talent’s Inspiration Week Event 2011, for 14- 19 year olds, at the National Media Museum in Bradford, on 26th October. Participants will be making stingers and idents for The National Media Museum‘s animation festival, with their work entered into a competition with a small commission prize. I will be assisted by the talented Gary Carse of Carse & Waterman. For more details click here.
