S*PUNK VISUALS (18.07.04)

S*PUNK is a mixed gay / student friendly alternative club night in Leeds. The clubnight began in August 2004 and I saw it as a creative challenge to produce some visuals for it. Below is a collection of the clips that made up the visuals. These clips were edited together to form a half an hour loop.

Skateboarders seemed ideal to animate because of the skate/ska punk theme of the club. As well as going well with the night, it gave me a chance to experiment with rotoscoping (drawing over video), using footage full of fluid movement.

The visuals were shown for the first time outside of S*PUNK, at the Liverpool Biennial 04, as part of an 'Art Crawl', organised as part of the Art in Bars programme. Too see clips of the visuals being projected, click HERE.
